The Pros and Cons of Using Salvage YardsWhen you are told to check out a salvage yard for a situation you are dealing with with your vehicle, you might not get it at first. What are the benefits of going to a junkyard to get a part? If it is in the junkyard, it is obviously junk, right? Not so much. They had the engine for my 1998 Honda Accord, it was good, no problems. The guy who pulled it, I think his name was Jim, loaded it for me after hours and didn't charge extra. Nice guys.

This is an old school junk yard, not an auto recycler that only carries late model parts. They have complete old, antique, classic and late model cars and trucks that they remove parts from so you know your getting the right part. If your doing any kind of restoration, this place is a gold mine. Pops and Dave Simon are great guys and their main man Jimmy has a knowledge of parts in his head that is scarry. Bring cat treats.

They are about the last place in the area left with older, and antique parts. They had the bumper bracket I needed for my Model A Ford, and a wheel for my 1948 Dodge sedan. I saw a lot of old stuff out back on their lot, Caddys, Mopars, Fords, even an Edsel plus all the normal newer stuff, I also needed a taillight for my '97 Camrey a few months after my first visit. Great guys to deal with, and they seem to know what they have, how they keep track of the millions of parts is beyond me. The Old Man there said he had been there since 1950, I will be going back for more stuff for the Dodge come spring.

I went in to the office and was able to talk to the owner and his son about the parts that I needed tobtain fora project that I was working on at the time. These guys have their heads on straight and would be able to tell you where every car in that lot is and whether they have it or not, In my opinion they are very reasonable on prices for used automobile parts and was quite suprised that they had a model of my car in stock. I picked up the part 45 minutes later afteritwas puled from the car. I put the part in my van at the time and brought it home. It is now part of my project car. Thank You Simon's for being one of the last true auto salvage yards in the county. I would also like to thank you for your professionalism on the matter.
